All right -- it finally happened. Finally, after all is said and done, I missed a day.
So, the betting pools can finally cease. I mean, really here. (Actually, I had no less than two people ask if I realized I'd missed a day, and ask if I was going to update today. I'm not sure what that means, but it scares me.)
Well, the Academy's hired Mason. He should be in Wolfeboro by the fifteenth of June, and starting a few days later after he recovers from a long trip in a U-Haul truck. Now that's dedication, kids. I'm excited about it for a lot of reasons. Not the least of which is I have someone to go to Inspector Gadget with. And hang out with. And day trip to Boston with. And and and.... Boy, I hope Mason's the social type. I've slept most of the weekend, interspersed with drives and walks. It's gorgeous here right now. No humidity to speak of. So the ballyhooed air conditioner has been turned into a fan for the moment. It's good at that. It's good at everything. Except staying on -- I need that power upgrade. Bob, the landlord (not Bob the Business Manager) said he'd put in an outlet on a 20 amp circuit yesterday. So he showed up well before I was supposed to be awake on Friday, then never showed up this weekend. So, hopefully this coming week. We put in my grandmother's dock this weekend as well. Dad and I up to our shoulders in water, moving it in. I used to love to swim, as I've detailed before at length, and Grammie's place was big for that. So, it was almost nostalgic, putting the dock in now. I could almost remember staying eight or nine hours in the water. Unsupervised, no less -- ah, the seventies and eighties, before parenting became a contact sport. I never had a bike helmet either. I don't remember a single kid in my town who did. None of us ever died on our bikes. More tomorrow -- sorry these are so short, but I've got stuff going right now, and don't have huge time. Tomorrow, I promise. |
